Main Campus, May 15-21, 2023
Africa Ministry Depot (AMD) operates throughout Africa to distribute the ministry of Brothers Watchman Nee and Witness Lee in both English and local languages. It has recently participated in a book fair in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with encouraging results.
Attending significant book fairs is one strategy that we are using to spread the word about this service throughout Ethiopia. The Lord, in His mercy and sovereignty, provided us the opportunity to participate in the Addis Ababa University (AAU) main campus book fair and sales from May 15 to 21, 2023.
There were many visitors of all kinds because the book fair was hosted on the main campus of AAU. Students, instructors, doctors, professors, and pastors were drawn to our books. Many people were astonished when they first saw our books, especially those by Watchman Nee, saying, “Oh, do you have more Watchman Nee books? Where can we locate them? Who is Witness Lee?” Following our brief reading from a book and some sharing from the back cover, they said, “What is God's economy? This is a term that we have never heard before.” We read a few passages from the book The Economy of God, and they started to change. Many people were attracted to the Holy Bible Recovery Version. They inquired about this Bible, and many opted to purchase their own right away after we shared with them and read several footnotes together.

Two theology students attending Orthodox Trinity Theology School were moved by the book's title, The All-inclusive Christ, and they inquired as to its subject matter. We explained to them how Christ is the reality of everything. Christ is not simply the small lamb; He is also symbolized by the good land as the all-inclusive One. We read some of the passages together to show how the land represents the all-inclusive Christ. The following day, they came again to buy each of our ministry books.
When two young Orthodox Christian students from AAU inquired about the Holy Bible Recovery Version, we first read Matthew 5:3 and 8 to them. We asked, “What does it mean to be poor in spirit? What does it mean to have a pure heart?” They didn't know, so we read the footnotes from the Recovery Version for them. Oh, the Lord was doing something in them before our eyes, and their hearts were open. They left with joy after purchasing The Crucial Revelation of Life in the Scriptures.
One master's student from Afar, near the border with Djibouti in the northeast of Ethiopia, was drawn to our books. After some fellowship, he borrowed the Recovery Version Bible, and the next day he returned, gushing over the book. As he began to read the Gospel of Matthew, when he got to Matthew 1:23, the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew, he read footnote 2 on Emmanuel, which means "God with us." The Savior, Jesus, is God among us. He was really moved. Jesus Christ, our Savior, is not merely God; He is God with us.
The Department of Architecture has a professor who has been reading Watchman Nee's works for twenty years. He stopped by our table and looked at the Recovery Version. He stated that Brother Watchman Nee-style footnotes are found in it. Astonished by the Recovery Version's book summaries as well, he joined us for fellowship in an effort to learn more about the Recovery Version.
Our goal for this year is to establish a bookstore in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. We were scanning the city for the ideal place because Addis Ababa is a vast metropolis with a population of more than twelve million. Due to the guidance and immense mercy of our Lord, the book fair we held at AAU served more purposes than only book distribution. Our ardent requests for a location were heard by the Lord, who also opened our eyes. Yes, the location is now very clear. The area surrounding or close to AAU (Science Facility) is the best location for a bookstore. We can gain many from other regions of Ethiopia in addition to helping the seekers in Addis Ababa.
May the Lord guide us to the ideal bookstore display location near this specific location.
And may the Lord quicken and strengthen the website's activity for this ministry's online distribution.
Glory to the Lord!
